​​This intense 7-week workshop series, mounting original choreography & Stage Dance technique styles into Lecture Demonstrations performances.
Students will be challenged to bring their works to new levels in performances styles preserving Graham, Limon, Horton, Dunham, Broadway stage, African American dance history for film & stage presentations.

Dance masterclasses are specialized dance workshops led by a professional dancer or choreographer. These classes are designed to provide dancers with the opportunity to learn from experts in the field and improve their skills in a specific dance style or technique. Masterclasses typically focus on a particular aspect of dance, such as technique, choreography, or performance skills, and are often more intensive and advanced than regular dance classes.

CONTEMPORARY​
Controlled legwork of ballet with modern dance that stresses on torso using contract-release, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation characteristics of modern dance.

HORTON​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
A modern dance method developed by Lester Horton, focusing on anatomical studies, Native American dance influences, and dynamic movement.
GRAHAM
A foundational style of modern dance created by Martha Graham, characterized by its emphasis on contraction and release, dramatic expression, and unique movement vocabulary.
JAZZ
Jazz dance focuses on strong technique, expressive movement, and syncopated rhythms, emphasizing musical accents, sharp dynamics, and performance quality.

A modern dance technique created by José Limón, focusing on using gravity, suspension, and expressive dynamics to create powerful, human-centered movement.

DUNHAM
A modern technique created by Katherine Dunham, blending African and Caribbean dance traditions w/ ballet and modern dance. It emphasizes grounded movement, rhythmic isolation, polycentrism, and cultural expression rooted in African diaspora traditions.
FLOOR BARRE
A ballet training method performed on the floor vs standing at the barre. It focuses on alignment, strength, flexibility, and muscle memory while reducing strain on joints.

Professional theater scene centered in New York City, known for high-level singing, acting, and dance, featuring styles like jazz, tap, ballet, and musical theater choreography.
DANCE PRODUCTION
A staged performance that brings choreography, music, costumes, lighting, and storytelling together to present a complete dance work for an audience performed on a theater stage as part of a concert, show, or showcase.
